Business Insider Tech Insider: Growth Mode at The Pearl SF | SF Tech Week Event Photography
JY Studio photographed Business Insider's Tech Insider: Growth Mode at The Pearl SF during SF Tech Week 2026, with Menlo Ventures' Matt Murphy, Lime CEO Wayne Ting, and a Fidelity panel on life after IPO. Here's the event, the photos Business Insider published, and what we've learned photographing events at The Pearl SF.

On October 7, 2026, during SF Tech Week, Business Insider hosted Tech Insider: Growth Mode, "From Breakout Company to Enduring Business," at The Pearl SF in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood. Sponsored by Fidelity, the evening brought founders, investors, and operators together for on-stage conversations about venture capital and IPOs. JY Studio photographed the event for Business Insider, and our photos ran in Business Insider's coverage the next day.

The program closed with an open Town Hall, with attendees taking the Business Insider microphone to ask questions from their seats.

Photographing Events at The Pearl SF
The Pearl SF is an event venue at 601 19th Street in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood, an industrial-style building with high ceilings, exposed wood beams, a sculptural wooden tree installation across its white walls, polished concrete floors, and a rooftop. JY Studio has now photographed events in both its main hall and on its rooftop, including the NFL Super Bowl LX Marketing Team Lunch on The Pearl's rooftop earlier in 2026.

What We've Learned Shooting at The Pearl SF
Plan for the light to change
Evening programs start in daylight from the high windows and end in the dark under warm uplighting. We adjust through the night so the first session and the last Town Hall match.
Work the angles around a low stage
A low stage in front of theater seating makes it easy to shoot speakers from the side aisles and from the back without blocking the audience or the event's video crew.
Use the room itself
The wooden tree sculpture, beams, and greenery give reception and networking photos a sense of place that a hotel ballroom can't, so we frame for them on purpose.
Follow the move to the reception
When the program ends, guests spread from the seating area to the bar and cocktail tables. That's when the best candid photos happen, so we stay through the reception.
Rooftop events are a different shoot
Daytime rooftop events, like the NFL Super Bowl LX lunch we shot there, call for open shade and skyline backgrounds rather than stage lighting.
